At CycleCoach, we provide expert fitness testing for both coached and non-coached athletes, designed to optimise your training and unlock your performance potential. Our testing ensures you’re training at the right intensities, identifies your strengths and weaknesses, and gives you actionable insights to elevate your performance.

After your test, Senior Coach Ric Stern will personally guide you through your results in our tranquil surroundings, explaining what they mean and how to apply them to your training. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of where you are, where you can improve, and how to achieve your goals.

Regular fitness testing is a cornerstone of effective training. It allows you to:

The Testing Process

We use the industry-standard MAP Test (Maximal Aerobic Power) to assess your fitness:

  1. Warm-Up: A ~20-minute preparation phase to get your body ready.

  2. The Test: A progressive ramp test that gradually increases intensity until you reach your limit.

  3. Cool Down & Results Review: After the test, we’ll calculate key metrics to help you train effectively

What’s Included in Your Test

  • Personal testing conducted by Senior Coach Ric Stern.

  • Full report detailing your:

    • MAP Score (Maximal Aerobic Power).

    • Power-to-Mass Ratio (essential for climbing and endurance events).

    • Functional Threshold Power (FTP).

When to Test

For best results, fitness testing should be performed:

  • Once every 8 weeks for consistent progress tracking.

  • No more than once every 4 weeks to allow for meaningful adaptations.

  • At least once per year to establish a baseline and adjust training accordingly.Location
